HALL OF FAME 2020 – IT’S ON ITS WAY!

Monday 23 March, doors open 7.30pm / 8pm start

Princess Suite, Madejski Stadium – entry free, all welcome

Come and re-live some of the epic moments of Reading’s history – in the company of the some of the men who made them.

On the evening 25 new names will be inducted into STAR’s Reading FC Hall of Fame in a two hour presentation interspersed with TV goal clips, brief biographies and short speeches from the stars receiving their awards, to be presented by the Mayor of Reading.

As always Hall of Fame takes the long view of the club’s history with awards going to characters from each of the club’s 15 decades. The first award goes to a man who probably played in our first ever game in 1872, sadly no longer with us, and the last to someone who still very much with us indeed.

In between we honour 13 players with 20 promotions between them, a player who won Serie A and La Liga as manager, a forward who saw Reading win two Third Division titles 60 years apart, two first class cricketers (!), a schoolmaster who hit over 50 goals in only 40 games, stars from the Southern League to the Premier League, the keeper who saved most penalties and the player who scored most penalties, the best ever local boy, our greatest goal-scorer and national record-breakers galore.

The evening is completely free (other than the bar, of course) with a free commemorative brochure available at the end and it’s open to any Reading supporter, STAR member or otherwise. Around the presentation hall various groups from the Collectors & Historians, the Former Players Association, the Community Trust, the Tilehurst End and the Reading & District Sunday League (part-sponsored by STAR) and more will be present with displays or the opportunity to have chat. And it’s likely that our honoured guests will also be around for a quick word or selfie.

It’s a once a year occasion – please do come and support STAR and our stars.
