The great majority of Reading fans we recently polled believe there should be provision for ‘safe standing’ at Premier League and Championship matches. STAR supported the petition to have the issue considered for debate in Parliament. The petition had over 111,000 signatures and was debated on 25th June where the Sports Minister has promised to conduct a review over the next six months of safety/injury evidence of standing in seated areas. This could be taken as a softening of the Government’s previously hostile stance to change. A recording of the debate can be viewed via Parliament TV here.
