The meeting was attended by Sarah Turner, Matthew Batten and Jack Simpson. A representative from Yuan’s team, Damian Green, the FSA and several members of DCMS. Along with Trevor Birch, Nick Craig, Mark Rowan and Andrew Pomfrey of the EFL.
The EFL are very keen for the deal to go through, but the weight of responsibility is now on the club to provide the evidence that the sale is progressing. All the conversations we have had with the senior team at the football cub, is that things are moving in the right way, but we need to see the evidence (and more importantly so do the EFL by the 3rd April). If they see evidence that the buyer is serious, they will give us an extension. If they do not, then they have to make a decision based on the evidence of how likely we can stay a competitive team in the league. We would not be expelled from the league, but we would be refused permission to play matches – which would probably go down as a loss each game. This seems to be the worst scenario at the moment.
