
As a board member of the Supporters’ Trust at Reading (STAR), you have the chance to make a real difference in the Reading FC community. With the recent change in ownership, we are at the dawn of a fresh start, and your voice can be a pivotal part of this transformation.
If elected, you will be part of the collective fan voice with a unique role where you can engage directly with fans and the Club to improve the Reading FC fan experience as well as improving the operation of STAR to enable more of this.. This is more than just providing excellent away coach travel – it’s representing fans and improving the experience for everyone. There are numerous areas where you can contribute, including youth representation, IT, heritage and history, attending regular Berkshire community events, travel support, and more. We are particularly seeking candidates who can bring unique skills, talents, or insights to the board.
Supporters’ Trusts are vital to football clubs across the UK. They are democratic, not-for-profit organisations run by fans for fans. They ensure that supporters have a voice in the running of their clubs and help represent the interests of fans at all levels.
By becoming a board member of STAR, you will join a group of passionate, dedicated, and like-minded volunteers committed to making a difference for all Reading FC fans. Co-operative & Community Benefit Societies Act – Board Elections
There are seven positions available for election to the Board of Reading Football Supporters’ Society Limited (trading as ‘STAR’- Supporters’ Trust At Reading) at its next Annual General Meeting in September 2025.
In order to stand for election you need to be a fully paid up member of STAR and be aged 16 or over. You must be proposed and seconded by two other fully paid-up STAR members. (No STAR member may propose or second more candidates than the number of positions to be elected.)
Should there be more than seven candidates, then a contested election will be held amongst the STAR members to select the candidates for the seven vacant board positions.
How to stand for election
Please email your intention to stand (or any questions on the process) to: secretary@star-reading.org.
Please include in your email:
- Your full name, STAR membership number, address and telephone number.
- Name, STAR membership number and email address of your proposer and seconder.
(or attach emails from your proposer and seconder with these details.)
- Election statement and photograph.

You must provide an election statement of between 200-1000 words. This is to give you the opportunity to identify your areas of interest, skills you can bring to STAR and ideas you would like to implement if elected.
Please also submit a photograph of yourself for publication with your statement.
All statements will be published on the STAR website and made available to STAR members.
Closing date for receipt of nominations will be 31st July 2025 at 8pm. (We would recommend nominations be submitted by 29th July to allow acknowledgement to be received and any issues resolved before the deadline)
Receipt will be acknowledged by email or telephone.
