Reading Legend Dave Kitson News – 14th February 2024

THANK YOU!

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have booked sessions so far with The Dave Kitson Academy.

Our philosophy is to develop skills in an enjoyable, positive and supportive environment.

Thank you for all the Google Reviews and for the feedback those of you have given me about the sessions. It is particularly rewarding to hear when some of what has been learned in my coaching sessions has been applied to good effect in matches. I’m grateful to those of you who have been in touch to let me know that your child has taken on board my ‘Golden Rule’ about following up on rebounds, which has resulted in a goal being scored!

You can see some of the reviews and testimonials from parents, team managers and the likes of Brian McDermott, Chris Wilder, Hal Robson Kanu, Mikele Leigertwood and Ivar Ingimarsson on my website: www.davekitsonacademy.com

COACHING THE AJAX WAY

I’m visiting the Ajax academy later this month for an international coaching seminar. It will be interesting to see first hand how they deliver their coaching philosophy and I’m hoping I can implement some of what I learn into my sessions.

By the way, please don’t hesitate to let me know at the start of a coaching session if there is anything in particular you want to work on in the session.

PORTSMOUTH WILL BE A TOUGH TEST

Despite losing players in the winter transfer window, it’s now 6 games unbeaten for Reading after Tuesday’s draw at Fleetwood.

Suddenly, we are one of the form teams in League One!

The players face a big test at the weekend though against Portsmouth, who are on course to be playing in the Championship next season.

Come on URZ!

GROUP / TEAM COACHING SESSIONS

Although I am still doing a lot of one to one sessions, I am seeing an increasing number of small group sessions with 2, 3 or 4 players.

This is an excellent way for young players to learn and enables me to deliver sessions based on real match situations involving more than one player – one benefit of having more than one player per session is that what the player learns in the session can easily be applied in a match.

Please let Mark know if you are interested in a small group or team coaching session – as well as a great dynamic in the sessions, one benefit is that the cost per player comes down.

I’m also seeing an increasing number of team coaching sessions for mens, womens, boys and girls teams.

If you have any questions about booking a one to one, small group or team session, please contact Mark at mark@davekitsonacademy.com and he’ll be able to help you with any queries.

OUR TEAM IS GROWING

Our team is growing and we now have four coaches on The Dave Kitson Academy team – including Gavin Cox, Reading FC coach Kobina Elliott and my former Reading team mate James Harper.

If you’d like to book a one to one, small group or team coaching session with me, James, Kobina or Gavin, please get in touch with Mark.

YOUR IDEAS FOR MY READING CHRONICLE COLUMN!

Finally, if there is anything you’d like me to write about in my weekly Reading Chronicle column, please get in touch and let me know!
